Identify a one-day volunteer project that will benefit your organization. Do It Day projects can range from requesting volunteer brand strategists to help you develop a marketing plan to asking a group of volunteers to help paint your offices. You can visit www.doitday.co.za and browse through the 2005 Do It Day projects to get some ideas.
-
Write a Do It Day project description. This needs to include the activities and objectives, where the project will take place, why you have a need for this project and how it will benefit your organization or the community where you work.
-
Describe the beneficiaries of your organization’s work. Who are they? How are they involved in the project? How will they benefit from the project?
-
Describe how this project fits in with the other work of your organization.
-
Identify the key challenges of undertaking this Do It Day project.
-
Define your volunteer requirements. How many volunteers do you need? What kinds of skills or expertise do you require?
-
Provide an estimate of the hours you require the volunteers for. (Remember they need to be able to finish this project in one day.)
- If there are costs involved in the project then provide a line-by-line budget.
