There are many people throughout South Africa who are willing and able to contribute their expertise and energy to a worthy cause or charity; some of whom are already organised into community or employee volunteer programmes. 

 

www.GreaterGoodSA.co.za together with the JDI Foundation has initiated "Do It Day" as a way to connect groups of volunteers and NPOs so that charities and causes can benefit from skills and person power that they don't normally have access to.

 

South African NPOs have been invited to identify one-day projects that require volunteer skills and/or person power that they need to achieve their objectives.   Projects may range from developing business and marketing plans to building, renovating and gardening.

 

"Do It Day" helps to promotes a culture of volunteerism in South Africa, enabling individuals to feel the satisfaction that comes from making a good difference in our society.  The aim is to boost self-reliance – 'people doing it for themselves', and to foster mutually-beneficial long-standing relationships between NPOs and volunteers, both civic and corporate.
