NEW for causes: quarterly payments

Monday, April 4th 2011

To keep up with increasing volume, for added security and to make giving more immediate, GreaterGood SA will start paying donations over to causes quarterly instead of 90 days after the donation. This is the first phase in our plan to move to monthly payments. We also have some exciting developments to share with you.

Set payment dates
In the past, the GreaterGood SA Trust paid donations received through the myggsa.co.za giving community over to causes 90 days after the donation was made. This was a precautionary measure to avoid credit card payment reversals.

We have since introduced additional checks which allow us to pay donations over quarterly on the following dates:

  • Donations received in January, February and March are paid over on 1 April
  • Donations received in April, May and June are paid over on 1 July
  • Donations received in July, August and September are paid over on 1 October
  • Donations received in October, November and December are paid over on 2 January

What does this mean for my cause?
It means that you will get a lump sum payment of donations made to your cause four times a year instead of in dribs and drabs 90 days after the donation was made. In most cases, this means you will get paid sooner than before and you will never wait longer than you are currently waiting to get paid.

Make sure your compliance documents (NPO or PBO certificate, proof of a valid bank account and audited financials or annual report) are up-to-date so that we can process donation payments to you correctly and on time.

More value
The GreaterGood SA giving community is a trusted way for givers to contribute to good causes in South Africa. We have been working hard to forge new deals that will make the community bigger, better and of more value to our causes and the givers who want to support them.

Partnerships with Lead SA, the Homecoming Revolution and Brand SA mean that we are expanding our reach to more people in South Africa and overseas. We have also negotiated the lowest possible payment gateway and credit card transaction fees with our service provider, Virtual Card Services, and bank so that registered causes get the maximum donation amount out.

GreaterGood is one of the few online giving platforms in South Africa that remains free to non profit organisations. There's no joining or set up fee. There is no monthly subscription for causes or percentage fee on donations. We only deduct the actual bank and service provider cost from donations to your cause.

Added choice and security
Because the online payment environment changes rapidly, we are implementing increased security measures to protect our givers, causes and ourselves from fraud:

  • Givers have to provide a billing address and contact number for all donations by credit card.
  • We will be implementing a new international security feature to make online transactions more secure - 3D secure - over the course of the year.

We also plan to provide more choice for givers by implementing a monthly giving by debit order facility and an integrated link with eBucks.
