Head of consulting chosen for Tutu Fellowship

Friday, April 1st 2011

Bridgit Evans, head of social investment consulting at GreaterCapital, was recently selected, along with 17 other Africans, to enroll on the prestigious 2011 Archbishop Tutu Leadership Programme. Upon successful completion of the programme candidates will be awarded an Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellowship.  She will join young business leaders from Kenya, Uganda, Senegal, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

Future African leaders
The Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme is the flagship programme of the African Leadership Institute. It aims to provide a platform for learning by potential future leaders across the African continent. Young achievers are introduced to the key principles, requirements and challenges of leadership.

At the end of the program, trainees become Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellows and gain assistance in developing a network of future leaders that have the capacity and the vision to contribute to the transformation of the African continent and that can provide support to each other.

Ignited by passion
Bridgit holds two degrees in psychology and an MBA from UCT's Graduate School of Business with a thesis in Social Entrepreneurship.

She spent a number of years at Tshikululu Social Investments, (CSI Fund Managers for Anglo American, De Beers and the FirstRand group).  She then managed the Network for Social Entrepreneurs at GIBS and most recently provided input to a World Bank teaching aid to increase the level of Social Entrepreneurial thinking at a post secondary school level.

Bridgit is passionate about creating opportunities for restoring dignity to South Africa's most marginalised communities and hopes to use her skills to leverage the knowledge and expertise between the corporate and social sectors to bring about a wave of sustainable social change.
