The main business of Abraham Kriel Maria Kloppers Children’s Home is to manage children’s homes. However, in addition to the protection, care, development, training, treatment and re-integration of the children in the children’s home, the children’s home also provide preventative and developmental services to children and families in the community.
The programs that were executed during the report period include holistic care to the children in residential care; preventative and developmental services to children and families in needy communities; generic support services and the generation of additional income. The program strives to protect vulnerable children, to support HIV affected families and to relieve poverty.
The partnership with Steinhoff International enabled the children’s home to provide a holistic social support program to HIV/Aids affected children and their families in Soweto.
Early Childhood Development is provided to children from disadvantaged communities. The Johanna Malan Centre, provides this service to between 60 and 65 children from the Yeoville area.
