Yout for Christ KwaZulu Natal has 2 shelters for children on the streets of Durban (Tennyson House) and Pietermaritzburg (Khayalethu). The Durban shelter is the only one for girls on the streets of Durban. These shelters are part of an overall strategy to help children leave the streets and be reunited with their families and have a strong focus on not just providing physical care, but also their emotional needs as well, helping them to overcome the past traumas they have suffered and getting them ready to return to a 'normal' life of a child and re-enrol in school.

These items are desperately needed as both shelters have not been upgraded for some time and the existing furniture and equipments are very old and on the verge of becoming useless.
