The Gauteng Accelerated Programme for Language, Literacy and Communication is a comprehensive undertaking intended to boost the language, literacy and communication skills of learners in every school in the Gauteng Province.

 

This will be done by training officials at every level in the Gauteng Department of Education in a range of methodologies to fast track learners’ literacy skill throughout the province of Gauteng.

 

However, the teachers will only be able to fully implement these methodologies if they have access to the correct reading material in their classrooms.

 

READ is appealing for funds to purchase the appropriate material to make this possible.

 

Every R75 rand, or other amount, received will be put into a fund to purchase materials for the Gauteng Accelerated Programme for Language, Literacy and Communication that will lead to better literacy rates in the province.
