CASE has trained 20 youth leaders who are young people in the community of Hanover Park. They have been trained to work with children and have implemented a project called the CASE Kids Club which is a weekly after-school programme where 100-150 children come together to participate in a lifeskills programme. The youth leaders work with the children aroundissues about drug abuse, violence, friendships and other important social and life skills. This issues are explored in fun, creative ways and we are always n need of materials to get the message across. As these children are quite impoverished, it is also essential for us to ensure that their primary needs are seen to, so once a week at the programme we give them soup and bread or some nutritious refreshment as part of the project. |
