Childline tends to work with the poorest of abused children whose parents and caretakers cannot afford private treatment. Childline links children to the resources they need as close to the child's own geographical community as possible. Referrals require active follow up as many services struggle with maintaining staff motivation and response. Problems are sometimes overwhelming even to the experts.
We could reach and help more traumatised children. We could through improved record keeping, follow up referrals and track the progress and safety of children more easily. Case follow up is a nightmare and traumatized children are forever falling through the cracks in the system.
