Giving is not just about money...
What is the Giving Exchange?

The Giving Exchange was successfully launched in 2005 as an innovative showcase of the inspiring work of the South African development and non profit / social profit sectors.
In 2006 the Giving Exchange was once again held in September as part of the country's Heritage Day celebrations.

Members of the public and the business sector had the opportunity to visit the expo over three days in both Johannesburg and Cape Town to learn more about the work, achievements and resource requirements of 20 South African social profit organisations who received the most votes in an online voting campaign.

Because giving that makes a real difference is not only about the donation of money, the Giving Exchange highlights the variety of ways in which businesses and the public can interact with social profit organisations - including signing up for a Do It Day near you to volunteer a day of your time and skills to help a great cause.

Thank you for making it possible!
A big thank you to all those who made the 2006 Giving Exchange possible - visitors to the expo in Johannesburg and Cape Town; the organisations who staffed the displays; and our generous sponsors, The Fidentia Group, Noah Financial Innovation and its Broking for Good Foundation, British American Tobacco South Africa, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Sandton City and Cape Argus.

Thanks also to the shops which participated in promoting the expo - Ocean Basket, the Chocolatier, Sunshine Colours, Gallery 909, Pakua, Art at Work, Diamonds of Africa and Fotofast at the V&A and Sweets from Heaven, Indaba, Bathroom Boutique and African Origins at Sandton City.

A special thanks goes to the 20 freelance designers, co-ordinated by Freelancentral, who contributed their time and talents to design four large A0 display posters for each organisation. The posters looked stunning on the display stands at the expo and are being reused by the organisations. The designers were Blake Moorhouse, Madeleine Botha, Johan van Schalkwyk, Ivan Schoeman, Wendy Sellers, Ricardo Davids, Clare Arend, Conrad Robertson, Melani du Bruyn, Jody Simpson, Sean Beldon, Nic Cumming, Jenna Mervis, Anthony Dalton, Jodi Kroll, Jandré Venter, Marisa Steyn, Deirdre Watson, Charlene Botha and Lindy Truswell.
